Question from session attendee: I feel that the focus have been on the animals especially the big dogs. How to change the shelter to alleaviate stress, how to recruit fosters, how to drive up adoption through media, how to break down barriers. This is commandable. How about the human factor - the other side of the coin. How do we educate the public (the adopters) so they have a better understanding of the dog in front of them. In my opinion, behavior problems come from unrealistic expectations. If we are to revamp the institution and system, don't we need to revamp the humans as well. Any thoughts!

Question from session attendee: I'm thinking about the role that Field Services plays in keeping pets in homes, especially big dogs. ACOs see first hand where dogs are living and who better to support retention. What are folks doing to bridge any gaps or divide?

Question from session attendee: We have a shelter that is designed where our adoption offices are in a separate building from our large dog housing facility. We utilize an outdoor yard for meet and greets rather than allowing adopters into the building due to the amount of behavioral dogs we have. I really love the idea of allowing the public in for the sake of visibility of our adoptable dogs, but with safety concerns of leaving roughly 60-80 dogs without direct supervision during interactions with the public, our leadership team has written it off as a possibility and is more comfortable with online viewing of all of our dogs. Do you have any suggestions?
