Times are tough for shelter dogs. We can help. The newly branded Maddie's® Million Pet Challenge and Human Animal Support Services are teaming to bring you a completely FREE, two-day virtual conference to tackle your biggest challenges surrounding big dogs #ThanksToMaddie. We've got proven solutions and data-driven protocols delivered to you in straightforward, streamlined modules for all levels of animal shelter professionals. We want your organizations to be supported as you learn better dog management, getting more live outcomes, shortening lengths of stay, and creating safer shelters.

We designed every session around what you told us you need the most. Session topics include: research on shelter dog behavior, big dog foster management, should you be doing behavior evaluations?, lifesaving protocol for at-risk dogs, making euthanasia decisions, a case management approach for 'long stay' dogs, do's and don'ts of dog volunteer programs, marketing big dogs the easy way, managing risk and public safety, managing big dog space crises, and practicing a trauma-informed approach to shelter dogs.

    When: Tuesday and Wednesday, March 29 - 30, 2022 from 10am - 3pm Pacific

Who is speaking? We're bringing the nation's top experts together - among them veterinarians, epidemiologists, veterinary behaviorists, shelter directors, trainers, and national leaders - to give you two days of highly usable programs that don't require special skills or breaking the bank to make positive changes. Dr. @Julie Levy of the Maddie's® Million Pet Challenge and  @Kristen Hassen of Human Animal Support Services will be moderating the conversation.

Tuesday's keynote speaker is Janis Bradley of the National Canine Research Council who will be sharing research conducted by her and Dr. Gary Patronek on evaluating and understanding shelter dog behavior. On Wednesday, Dr. @Sheila Segurson (she/her) of Maddie's Fund® will be sharing her work on building a trauma-informed approach to shelter dogs.

Who Should Attend?  This conference is designed for animal welfare professionals, volunteers, and anyone else who works with shelter dogs in some capacity and wants to learn. All presentations are geared towards all levels of animal shelter staff. Because they are data-driven and research-based, they'll be interesting for seasoned professionals while also being accessible for people with limited experience and those just entering the animal welfare field.

Find out all the information here: https://maddiesmillionpetchallenge.org/big-dog-master-class/

Register once for both days (space is limited).

The sessions will be recorded.  The entire conference has been pre-approved for 8 hours of CAWA continuing education credit by The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement and National Animal Care & Control Association.

Each hour-long block in this conference has been approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit until February 14, 2024 in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval.

I'm certainly at least a little biased ;) but very much looking forward to:

The 'warehousing' conundrum and how to address it – Kristen Hassen

and A trauma-informed approach to understanding shelter dogs – Dr. Sheila Segurson

    Will be excellent!!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
