Sharing a couple questions that were asked in the chat during the call that we didn't get a chance to answer:

"Do you help people with the registration of the chip? If not do you know what % of people actually register the chip?" asked by Isabelle Côté

"Are you updating the microchips with owner info on-site?" asked by M S

Early on Animal Rez-Q Inc, had the individual pet owners register their own chips.  Since our Navajo Nation Vaccination Blitz 2022, we have begun to register the chips and continue to be the chip "guardian".  Pet owners still get the email communications on the registration when registered.

This switch was due to a pet found in a city, miles from the reservation.  Animal Rez-Q Inc. was notified since we owned the chip............regretfully we did not find the pet owner.  When a call was returned to the facility on the pet, it was no longer at the shelter and not euthanized.  It is assumed that the owner picked up their animal.  After this situation, we decided that it was best to register all microchips and making sure we have a clearly written email address for the pet owner.

    Another question from the chat:

"This is amazing work. I know this is my ignorance of Native lands, besides AZ, CA & SD, what other states have reservation needs like this?" (asked by Hope Winograd DVM)

Awesome question.  I am only able to speak on reservations that I have traveled to but many of the reservations in the four corner region are in need of some type of animal care assistance.  Some reservations are more advanced in their networking.  It is best to communicate to the tribe.  I would suggest the Indian Health Services or their tribal health department, their animal control program or natural resources department.

On the ground organizations, in tribal reservations, always could use some support.

With over 565+ native american tribes in the United States, it is best to speak with a tribal member.  Hope this helps.
